OVERVIEW:
Baking is the harmonious combination of the right ingredients, precise measurements, techniques, chemistry, and a dose of creativity. In this WSQ certified Basic Pastry Preparation course, you will learn about the principles,methods, techniques and recipes of making six different types of pastry products. Mould yourself into a confident pastry chef through the hands-on preparation of various doughs and batters, applying the mixing, piping and baking methods in the basic pastry making processes. Master these basic pastries to embark on more baking adventures ahead!
At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to make the following pastries in accordance with industrial standards:
Basic cakes: Ondeh Ondeh Chiffon Cake | Banana Chocolate Swiss Roll | Japanese Cheese Cake
Cookies: Lavender Earl Grey Shortbread | NYC Red Velvet Cookie | Butter Cookie
Muffins and scones: Magdalena – Spanish Muffin | Apple Cinnamon Streusel Muffin | Classic English Scone with Jam and Cream | Cheddar Herb Scone
Tarts and short-crust pastries: Key Lime Meringue Tart | Taro Tart | Beancurd Tart

Entry Requirements:
- 21 years of age and above
- Primary education and above
- Learners have attained competency in Fundamental Pastry Preparation course (Level 1 or equivalent) or have knowledge and experience in preparing fundamental pastry products
- Workplace Literacy & Numeracy Level: At least Level 2 (listening/speaking and reading/writing)
COURSE FEES (GST Included):
- Singaporeans 40 years old and above: $468
- All PRs, LTVP+ & Singaporeans aged 21 – 39 years old: $708
- Full Course Fee: $1308
COURSE FEE AFTER FUNDING CAN BE CLAIMED THROUGH:
- SkillsFuture Credit: Singaporeans aged 25 and above can use their credits to pay for course fees.
- PSEA (Post-Secondary Education Account): Singaporeans aged 17 to 30 may use their account’s funds for fee payment. (Please call PSEA Hotline 62600777 to check your balance)
- SkillsFuture Enterprise Credits (SFEC): Eligible employers will receive a one-off S$10,000 credit to cover up to 90% of out-of-pocket expenses on qualifying costs for supportable initiatives.
